The Sunday Times Rich list states Ed Sheeran is the 10th highest-earning British musician with a net worth of £200 million.
Early Life
Born, Edward Christopher Sheeran, in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire on 17th February 1991, he moved with his family in December 1995 to Framlingham, Suffolk.
Sheeran sang with the local church choir at the age of 4 and learned to play the guitar at 11. His songwriting began whilst at High School in Framlingham and he used to perform at small gigs in Suffolk and busk on the streets of London.
Career and Earnings
Ed Sheeran first began recording music in 2004 and he later moved to London in 2008 to pursue his music career. Ed began to be seen by more people through YouTube and his fan base developed from there. He signed with Asylum Records in 2011 and released his debut album +( plus) on 12th September 2011 where he topped the UK album chart.
In 2012 Sheeran won the Brit Award for Best Male Solo Artist and Best British Breakthrough Act.
From March to September 2013 he played at stadiums and arenas across North America as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s The Red Tour. In June 2014 he released his second album x (multiply) which became the second bestselling album worldwide in 2015, receiving another Brit Award for Album of the Year 2015.
His third album, ÷(divide), was released on 3rd March 2017 and it became the fastest-selling album by a male solo artist in the UK, and the third fastest in UK chart history behind Adele’s 25 and Be here Now by Oasis.
Sheeran’s third international tour ÷(divide) earned an estimated $775.6 million between March 2017 and August 2019, breaking the 2011 record held by U2’s 360 Degrees Tour of 2009 -2011, for the highest-grossing tour of all times.
Besides his own music, he has also written songs for other artists, including Niall Horgan (former One Direction member), Justin Bieber, Westlife, Olly Murs, and Rita Ora.
Property and Real Estate Portfolio
Ed Sheeran’s property portfolio is said to be worth £61 million. His main property is a 16-acre country estate near Framlingham worth a reported £3.7m, which he shares with his wife and their daughter.
The estate includes the main house, Wynneys Hall, along with three adjacent houses. Ed also owns a luxurious London property in Notting Hill worth £19.8m. In addition to the family homes, Sheeran has accumulated properties including Covent Garden flats, three properties in Hammersmith, three on Portobello Road, two in Chiswick, apartments in Whitechapel and a Holland Park mansion. He also owns a bar on Portobello Road in Notting Hill called Bertie Blossoms.
