Johnny Depp v The Sun Newspaper Libel Case 2020
Depp has been somewhat out of favour recently after losing his libel case against the Sun newspaper over an article that called him a wife-beater.
Mr Depp, 57, sued the paper after it claimed he assaulted his ex-wife Amber Heard, an allegation which he denied.
He was subsequently dropped from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise and he was reportedly dropped from the next instalment of the very successful “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, where he plays the starring role of Captain Jack Sparrow.
However, Dior the French fashion and fragrance brand stood by Depp.
He appeared in a new video clip promoting his Sauvage fragrance with Dior, much to the pleasure of his fans who are applauding the company for standing by him.
Johnny Depp v Amber Heard Libel Case 2022
Fast forward to 2022 and Depp was back in court, suing his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation.
After a long and protracted trial lasting over 7 weeks, Depp won his case and was awarded $15 million.
This should now vindicate him and allow him to get his acting career back on track.
Early Life
John Christopher Depp II was born on 9 June 1963 to John Christopher Depp, a civil engineer and waitress, Betty Sue Palmer (née Wells), Depp is the youngest of their four children.
Although born in Owensboro, Kentucky, Depp spent the majority of his childhood growing up in the town of Miramar in Florida.
His parents divorced in 1978 when Depp was 15, not long after this, he dropped out of high school to pursue a music career as a rock musician. He joined a rock band called The Kids, but the band split up not long after relocating to Los Angeles.
Johnny Depp is a notable guitar player and has performed on songs by Aerosmith, Oasis, Marilyn Manson, Iggy Pop and Vanessa Paradis to name but a few.
Acting Career
After the breakup of his band, Depp was introduced to actor Nicolas Cage, it was Cage that encouraged the young Johnny Depp to try his hand at acting.
This was not a tough sell for Cage, as Depp had been interested in acting since reading a biography of James Dean and watching the film Rebel Without a Cause.
Johnny Depp’s first screen appearance was in the 1984 horror movie A Nightmare on Elm Street. His big breakthrough though was landing the part of Tom Hanson in the TV series 21 Jump Street in 1987. Depp has since gone on to star in many movies, most notably, Edward Scissorhands and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Personal Life
Johnny Depp was married to makeup artist Lori Anne Allison from 1983 until 1985.
After his divorce from Lori Ann, Depp was engaged to actresses Jennifer Grey, and Sherilyn Fenn before later proposing to his Edward Scissorhands co-star Winona Ryder.
From 1994 to 1998, Depp was in a relationship with English supermodel Kate Moss.
Shortly after his breakup with Moss, Depp began a relationship with French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis. They have two children, daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp (born 1999) and a son, Jack (born 2002). Unfortunately, this relationship did not last and they separated in 2012.
Following his breakup with Paradis, Johnny started a relationship with the now-infamous Amber Heard. They were married in 2015 and a year later, Heard filed for divorce which was granted in 2017.

However, all that could change now with his recent defamation case triumph against Amber Heard.
