MacKenzie Scott Net Worth

MacKenzie Scott (Formerly Bezos), is now the richest woman in the world with an estimated fortune of $57.5 billion.

Scott has replaced Alice Walton, the daughter of Walmart founder, Sam Walton as the world’s wealthiest woman.

MacKenzie Scott Tuttle was born on 7 April 1970, in San Francisco, California to Jason and Holiday Tuttle. Her father was a financial planner.

MacKenzie is the ex-wife of Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, who incidentally happens to be the current richest man in the world. Upon her divorce from Bezos in 2019 after 25 years of marriage, MacKenzie received 25% of his Amazon stake, which was equivalent to 4% of the company’s value, at that time equating to $35 billion in monetary terms.

However, Amazon stock has soared by more than 75% this year with more consumers than ever shopping online due to the current coronavirus pandemic and the resultant lockdowns.

This surge in the Amazon stock price has increased MacKenzie Scott’s net worth by $20 billion. As well as ranking as the world’s richest woman, she now ranks as the 11th wealthiest person in the world overall.
MacKenzie Scott graduated from Princeton University in 1992 and went on to publish two novels. In 1994, Scott helped Jeff Bezos launch Amazon, initially from their garage at home before moving to a rundown office in Seattle.

It is important to note, that in its earlier days, Amazon only sold books, so MacKenzie’s input as an author can not be overstated, she was instrumental in turning the small online bookseller into the e-commerce giant it is today. MacKenzie was also responsible for the company’s bookkeeping and general administration.

MacKenzie is putting her new found wealth to good use as an influential philanthropist, earlier this year she donated $1.7 billion to 116 organisations that included four historically Black colleges and universities.
