How rich is Usain Bolt?
Usain Bolt is widely regarded as the greatest sprinter of all time, and with good reason. He is a world record holder in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 × 100 metres relay.
The world record-holding olympian has eight Olympic gold medals and 19 Guinness World Records.
But how lucrative has his career been and how much money does Usain Bolt have?
At the time of writing this article, Usain Bolt’s net worth is estimated to be around $90 million.
Early Life
Usain was born on August 21, 1986, in Sherwood Content, Jamaica. He is a brother to Sadiki and Sherine. His parents Jennifer and Wellesley worked in a local grocery store in their small rural area.
When Usain was young he loved sports, he said that sport is the only thing that clings to his mind.
Bolt went to Waldensia primary school, where he began showing his love and passion for sports. He participated in several events, including inter-school competitions and annual national school meetings. At the age of 12, Usain was named the fastest runner for the 100m distance.
Career
Following his excellent performance in school, Bolt continued to express his love for sports through several competitions. During the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, Bolt won three gold medals, becoming the first person in history to win 100m and 200m races at the same time.
Usain Bolt then became unstoppable, during the 2012 London Summer Olympics, Usain bagged another three gold medals. Bolt became the first man in history to set three world records consecutively.
During the 2016 Summer Olympics held at Rio, Bolt again bagged another three medals, so a total of nine gold medals in his entire career.
Usain Bolt as an Enterpreneur
In 2018, Usain started a micro-mobility company and named it Bolt Mobility. The company focused on producing mobility products such as electric scooters, among others.
The company featured Usain in all its advertisements, both on Facebook and Youtube.
His company became famous and opened a branch in New York. The company further expanded its branches to Asia and Europe.
He has also founded a company called Champion Shave, based in Miami.
Usain Bolt also earns money from a plethora of endorsement packages, including promotions for Hublot, Gatorade, Visa, Virgin Media, All Nippon Airways and others. He also appears in the popular mobile game, Temple Run 2.
Usain’s longest-running (no pun intended) sponsor is the sports brand Puma. He first signed with the sportswear giant when he was still a teenager, and even though he is now retired, he still receives $10 million per year from them.
Usain Bolt can also still demand high appearance fees of up to $400,000 per event, such is his popularity and ability to fill venues.
It’s fair to say that just like when Usain Bolt was a sprinter, he is also quick out of the blocks when it comes to making money with his entrepreneurial activities.
Usain Bolt’s Lifestyle
What can you expect from a man with such a net worth? Of course, Usain Bolt lives a luxurious lifestyle.
Staying healthy and fit is still his priority though, Bolt has eating and workout schedules. Usain starts his mornings with an egg sandwich, followed by a 20-minute workout in the gym. Bolt also loves eating a lot of vegetables and Jamaican dumplings. He eats pineapples and apples as a light snack during the day.
Bolt owns a penthouse in Australia worth $2.5 million. Apart from this house, he also owns a five-bedroom house in Jamaica.
It is no surprise that Usain has a huge collection of cars, including a Ferrari, BMW, Audi and a Nissan, amongst others.
It is also worth mentioning that Bolt raises money for charity. He has a foundation that aims to provide exciting opportunities for needy children.
